My climate change journey ( part 1 )

As a person who cares about my environment, it goes hand in hand that I care about the environment, so I decided to write about my climate change journey.

Who knows, this may inspire people or give them ideas that they can take along their journey.

The planet is on fire and it's an emergency. This is what Greta Thunberg is on about. She also bashes countries and organisations because they could change their policies and make a change like a switch that could benefit the planet.

Unfortunately I'm not a country or a large corporate, and rather than protesting I decided to do something practical. I invented the NiteSave device and I'll cover this in later parts of this blog.

So my journey starts here in Sevenoaks in 2017 when I got fed up with fumes and cramped conditions and started walking instead of taking the tube.

I was shelling out about £1k a month on travel. A lot of it was going to National Rail. Initially I kept finding ways of changing my journey (split ticketing) to make it cheaper until I settled on a combination of electric bicycle and electric moped.

My journey to work ( commute ) was about 30 miles so I either rode a bicycle ( 2 hours ) or an electric moped ( 1 hour ) and carried the battery up to the office for charging at my desk. I did this for 18 months until covid hit.

I'll continue my climate journey in the next episode. If you are interested in climate chllenge stuff, keep following me and join the NiteSave community where we share ideas and help each other.
